According to the Vietnam Maritime Administration, the volume of goods passing through seaports in the first 10 months of this year is estimated at more than 624,500 million tons, up 3% over the same period last year.
In particular, the amount of exported goods decreased slightly by about 1%, but imported goods grew stronger, about 5%. Notably, after many months of decline, some areas have seen the output of goods through seaports increase again such as Ho Chi Minh City,  Quang Ninh, and Hai Phong.
Specifically, the output of goods through Ho Chi Minh City seaport increased by 2.72%; Quang Ninh increased by 4.8%; Hai Phong increased by 0.8% over the same period.
Some regions have increased cargo volume such as Nha Trang increased by 16.86%, Nghe An increased by 17%, Dong Nai increased by 10%, Can Tho increased by 29%, Binh Thuan increased by 21%. There are areas with small throughput such as Dong Thap and Thua Thien-Hue that increased sharply, up 59% and 44.21% respectively over the same period last year. There is only one seaport area with high cargo throughput volume such as Vung Tau, which decreased by 2%, but this is also a lower decrease than previous months.
In Ho Chi Minh City, transportation revenue in October at the beginning of the year was estimated at 8,165, of which sea transportation accounted for 26.4%, an increase of 31.2% over the same period.
According to the Vietnam Maritime Administration, at the end of the year, although shipping still faced many difficulties. However, the results show that the shipping market is gradually showing improvements and more positive signals.
