Phu My Inland container depot (ICD), Ba Ria – Vung Tau officially came into operation. This is the first dry port in this province and the third ICD in the South.
On October 28, Phu My ICD at Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park (Phu My town, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province) officially came into operation. Representatives of the Vietnam Maritime Administration and the General Department of Customs handed over the decisions announcing the opening of the dry port and recognizing the customs clearance location for the port owners.
Phu My ICD is invested by Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company (investor of Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park) on an area of nearly 38 hectares, with a total amount of nearly 3,000 billion VND. This inland port has main subdivisions such as: inland waterway wharf area, warehouse, and container yard.
According to assessments of maritime and logistics experts, the operation of Phu My ICD is very important for the development of Cai Mep – Thi Vai deep-water seaport and port logistics services of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province as well as like the Southeast region.
Because this is the first ICD of this province and the third ICD of the southern region.
The most important factor is that the port has road, air, waterway and rail connections in the future. Thanks to that, it helps investors and shippers transport goods conveniently and at the most optimal cost.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh – vice chairman of the People’s Committee of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province – said that Phu My ICD is an “extended arm” of the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port cluster. At the same time, this is also an important premise for developing port logistics services of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province in a synchronous and modern way.
