
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien also informed that it is expected that in May or June 2024, the EC will come to Vietnam to inspect again. Therefore, Mr. Tien proposed that leaders of coastal provinces must continue to closely, regularly and synchronously direct solutions so that Vietnam can remove the “yellow card”.
Provinces with systems connected to VMS equipment must be on duty 24/7 to early detect ships crossing boundaries and losing connection. Especially, take strong measures to prevent fishing vessels from illegally fishing in foreign waters.
“The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will urgently put into use the electronic traceability system. At the same time, continue to organize working groups to inspect, urge and propose measures to handle responsibility for irresponsible organizations and individuals in the locality,” Mr. Tien added.
